Each front wheel has a disc that rotates at wheel speed, straddled by a caliper that squeezes the disc (rotor) with friction pads to provide braking. Each rear wheel has a brake drum that rotates with the wheel. When the brakes are applied, a brake shoe is forced into contact with the brake drum to slow wheel rotation.
